What is mortar plasticiser?
Cromar Building Product’s mortar plasticiser enhances the workability and freeze thaw resistance of brick and block laying mortars helping to reduce cracking and crazing. Also known as ‘pink mix’ it can be used to replace of supplement the use of lime.
What does mortar plasticiser do?
- It prevents mortar from stiffening on the board and remain more plastic
- Prevents mortar from segregating or ‘bleeding’
- Makes more less prone to drying out shrinkage
- Increased adhesive strength
- Allows cement contents to be reduced
- Increased the rate of rending work and brick laying
- Increases durability – the mortar in unaffected by freeze/thaw conditions
- Improves weather resistance
- Ensures mortar is workable at temperatures down to -2°C
How much plasticiser to add to mortar mix –
- Add at a rate of 140 – 280cc per 50kg of cement
- Test mixes should be used to determine optimum dosage for the conditions
