Sometimes, standard half-round, square line, ogee, or even deep flow guttering products don’t offer the kind of rain dispersion you’re looking for. If this is the case, we can provide industrial guttering products – ideal for large buildings, farms, factory units and many more.
Part of that range are these 3m downpipes.
If you need any help with any of our products here at EasyMerchant – you’re always welcome to get in touch with our customer service team. Whether you need help with guttering products (industrial, half round, ogee, cast iron – or more) or just need help picking out the right fixings/accessories – our customer service team is here to help.
What is an industrial downpipe?
The downpipe’s role is simple – it connects to the bottom of the running outlet, changing the direction of rainwater from the horizontal runs that it’s collected in from the roof – towards the drain at ground level.
The downpipe fits quickly and simply – and even if it doesn’t run straight down to the drain from the outlet, it can easily be cut and integrated with angles and branches to help negotiate obstacles in its path.
Fitting an industrial downpipe
Fitting a downpipe section to your industrial plastic gutter system is fairly simple. With the horizontal part of the channelling in place, the downpipe simply pushes onto the bottom of the outlet – where the downpipe’s rubber gasket will create a watertight seal.
There is very little lateral pressure on the downpipe (since water simply falls through it) and as such, brackets are only needed to hold it to the wall roughly every 1.8m. That said, if you’re building in branches and angles – you’ll need to make sure your downpipe stack is supported within 150mm of these sections.
Industrial downpipe flow rate
Generally, the flow rate of a gutter system is dictated by the capacity of the gutters and the outlet, so a standard size domestic downpipe will not hinder the flow. However, if you feel you’re working with a system that’s likely to see an enormous flow – you can opt to size up from 110mm to 160mm downpipes, to ensure you’ve got additional capacity.
Both 110mm and 160mm downpipe options are available in either black or grey.
