If you’ve installed a soil stack in a property, you’ll be aware that building regulations state that the soil vent should be 900mm above the level of any window with 3m. While this is an important health and environmental consideration, it does mean you create an attractive resting place for birds, an interesting hole for squirrels, and an opening for debris to enter.

To make sure nesting birds, curious rodents and debris carried by the wind doesn’t enter your soil stack pipe, you should install protection at the top of the vent. A vent terminal is a lightweight and cost-effective way to do exactly that.
