Get Fibre Optic Underground Warning Tape 150mm x 365m
Underground warning tape colour: Green
If you’re installing twin wall ducting for fibre optic cable you should always make sure you also install an underground warning tape in the trench too. No matter how tough HDPE fibre optic cable ducting is, it’s always better to avoid striking it in the first place!
Maker tape does exactly what it says – marks out the location of the fibre optic cable duct so that anyone who’s working on the site in future will know where it’s located as the begin their groundworks.
Which colour underground warning tape should you use for fibre optic cable?
The colour of underground warning tape you use should reflect the indicator colour of the duct you’re marking out – so in this case, green tape indicates that there’s a green fibre optic cable / telecoms duct underneath.
The underground warning tape should also carry a text warning, in this case, the tape says “CAUTION FIBRE OPTIC CABLE BELOW”
How should you install an underground warning tape?
When you install twin wall ducting, you should always make sure it’s at least 450mm beneath the surface. On the other hand, the underground warning tape that you’re laying to indicate its presence should be around 150mm under the surface – giving adequate warning that there’s cable ducting deeper.
Ducting should always follow obvious routes – running directly between points or following features such as walls, paths, or natural edges. Your underground warning tape should follow the exact same route.
